Compliance Officer - Roving

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a proactive Compliance Officer to travel across its operations in Kenya. You will lead investigations, assess complaints, and help embed a culture of ethics and accountability throughout the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Screen, assess and triage incoming compliance complaints.
• Draft investigation plans, witness statements and related documentation.
• Conduct interviews with complainants, subjects and witnesses following established protocols.
• Collect, collate and analyse evidence to support investigation findings.
• Prepare comprehensive investigation reports with clear recommendations.
• Monitor implementation of corrective actions and risk‑mitigation measures.
• Collaborate with departments to close compliance gaps identified in system reviews.
• Support partner management by reviewing contracts and processes for compliance alignment.
• Design and facilitate training sessions on integrity, ethics and compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science (e.g., Criminal Justice, Sociology, Law, Finance) or comparable field.
• Minimum five years of experience in compliance, investigations or related functions.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret data and produce critical reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
• High level of integrity, professionalism and a sense of urgency.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
