About the role
The International Rescue Committee is seeking a proactive Compliance Officer to travel across its operations in Kenya. You will lead investigations, assess complaints, and help embed a culture of ethics and accountability throughout the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Screen, assess and triage incoming compliance complaints.
- Draft investigation plans, witness statements and related documentation.
- Conduct interviews with complainants, subjects and witnesses following established protocols.
- Collect, collate and analyse evidence to support investigation findings.
- Prepare comprehensive investigation reports with clear recommendations.
- Monitor implementation of corrective actions and risk‑mitigation measures.
- Collaborate with departments to close compliance gaps identified in system reviews.
- Support partner management by reviewing contracts and processes for compliance alignment.
- Design and facilitate training sessions on integrity, ethics and compliance.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science (e.g., Criminal Justice, Sociology, Law, Finance) or comparable field.
- Minimum five years of experience in compliance, investigations or related functions.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret data and produce critical reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
- High level of integrity, professionalism and a sense of urgency.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
