Consultant, Air Pollution Technician, Population Health

About the role

Aga Khan University Hospital is recruiting a Consultant, Air Pollution Technician for population health work in Nakuru County. The post holder carries out field monitoring of air pollution using portable devices, supports quality assurance and data integrity, and reports daily to the Field Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Attend mandatory training and complete the required certification before field deployment.
• Calibrate, mount, unmount, clean and maintain UPAS V2+, PurpleAir and LASCAR monitoring devices according to SOPs and supervisor instructions.
• Carry out field activities in line with approved study protocols, operational manuals and training guidelines.
• Check equipment before deployment and report any malfunctions that could affect data quality.
• Conduct respondent revisits for validation, quality assurance and back-checks.
• Take part in field debrief meetings and act on feedback.
• Prepare and submit daily field summaries and progress reports to the Field Supervisor.
• Keep participant information and project data confidential under the Kenyan Data Protection Act, 2019.
• Support quality assurance and data integrity, and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor for the LOSHAK project.

Required profile

• Diploma in environmental health or related sciences.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience.
• Previous experience in surveys and field work involving air pollution monitoring.
• Fluency in English, Kiswahili and the local language(s) of the study area.
• Culturally adaptable and sensitive.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ICT and use of computers and tablets.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
