About the role

The Consultant Phlebotomist will support data collection for the LOSHAK study across multiple counties in Kenya, conducting household interviews and collecting venous blood samples.

Key responsibilities

Attend and complete required training and certification.
Collect venous blood samples and other health measures following study SOPs.
Ensure sample quality during temporary storage and transportation.
Revisit respondents for validation or back‑check as needed.
Participate in regular debrief meetings and submit daily summary reports.
Maintain confidentiality of project information and participant data.

Required profile

Minimum diploma in laboratory science, nursing or clinical medicine.
At least 2 years of relevant experience.
Fluency in English, Kiswahili and a local dialect.
Previous experience in surveys, field work and national surveys led by KNBS.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Culturally adaptable and sensitive.

Required skills

Proficiency in ICT and computer/tablet usage and associated applications.
Technical skill in venous blood collection and processing.
