About the role
World University Service of Canada (WUSC) seeks a qualified production company to create a 10‑minute documentary (plus two abridged versions) that showcases the impact of the Displaced and Refugee Youth Enabling Environment Mechanism (DREEM) project in Kenya. The consultant will work closely with WUSC’s senior project manager and communications officer to capture the stories of university staff and refugee scholars.
Key responsibilities
- Develop the documentary script and storyboard, and conduct a reconnaissance mission to select interview locations and B‑roll sites.
- Interview university staff and selected scholars to document recruitment processes, policy changes, and personal impact.
- Coordinate interview schedules, manage on‑site filming, and ensure high‑quality sound and video capture (Full HD or 4K).
- Hold pre‑ and post‑production meetings with WUSC focal points, present draft versions for feedback, and deliver the final documentary and two shorter cuts.
Required profile
- Proven film production experience with a crew of no more than five people.
- Extensive expertise in producing development‑focused documentaries for local and international audiences.
- Excellent technical capabilities for both sound and video (Full HD or 4K) and ability to provide a portfolio of previous documentary work.
- Tax‑compliant in Kenya (KRA PIN registration) and able to submit references from prior documentary clients.
