About the role
The Country Credit Head for Wealth & Retail Bank Risk will safeguard the Group’s risk‑return decisions for the Kenyan market. Reporting to senior leadership, the role ensures retail credit risk is assessed, approved and controlled in line with Standard Chartered’s standards and appetite.
Key responsibilities
- Define and communicate credit risk strategy, policies, exposure limits and governance routines for the Retail Banking portfolio.
- Oversee end‑to‑end risk management, including portfolio monitoring, stress testing, scenario analysis and escalation of material risk exposures.
- Supervise first‑line credit processes, ensuring operational risk compliance with internal policies, laws and regulations.
- Maintain effective relationships with regulators, credit bureaus and other external stakeholders, ensuring expectations are reflected in internal processes.
Required profile
- Senior credit risk leadership experience within Retail Banking, covering portfolio oversight, credit decisioning and risk appetite management.
- Proven people‑management track record, including development of managers and specialists.
- Strong stakeholder management with country, regional and Group leaders, regulators and audit committees.
- Relevant certifications such as CCRC, Risk Leaders Bootcamp, ACRM and experience delivering training on collections and credit risk.
