Country Director – Kenya

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Country Director for its Kenya program. This senior position oversees a multi‑sectoral humanitarian and development portfolio, working closely with government, donors, and partners to deliver life‑saving services across health, nutrition, protection, livelihood and education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic vision and overall leadership for the Kenya country program.
• Ensure design, implementation and quality of programs with a budget exceeding USD 25 million.
• Manage donor relations, fundraising, budget oversight and financial reporting.
• Lead security, operations and compliance functions in collaboration with regional and headquarters teams.
• Represent IRC to government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, media and other stakeholders.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing, professional team across multiple counties.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale humanitarian or development programs (budget > USD 25 million).
• Strong track record of partnership with government, donors and international organizations.
• Excellent leadership, strategic planning and team‑building abilities.
• Ability to work in complex, insecure environments and make sound decisions under pressure.
