Country Director – Telecommunications

About the role

The leading international group is looking for a Country Director to lead its telecommunications operations in an African market. The role carries full responsibility for strategy, commercial development, operational performance, financial results and stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the country’s business strategy.
• Lead business development and maintain strong relationships with key clients.
• Oversee P&L, budgets, financial performance and reporting.
• Manage operations, projects, contracts, contractors and service delivery.
• Build and develop high‑performing local teams.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations and QHSE standards.
• Identify new business opportunities and drive sustainable growth.
• Report to the Group’s governing bodies and lead local management meetings.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, shareholders, employees and other stakeholders.
• Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Management, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience, preferably in telecom infrastructure or a similarly operations‑intensive sector.
• Proven experience in a Country Managing Director, General Manager or comparable leadership role.
• Strong background in P&L management, operations, business development and contract management.
• Excellent financial, commercial and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Ability to lead in a demanding, fast‑paced and changing environment.
• Fluent in English.
