County Finance Assistant – Entry Level (Busia & Siaya, Kenya)

About the role

The County Finance Assistant will support the Finance and Administration Manager in collecting information from county sites to process payments for sub‑county spraying staff. This entry‑level position works closely with project accountants and county government counterparts in Busia and Siaya counties.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a database of all field staff involved in county spraying activities.
• Facilitate completion and submission of daily work logs by site coordinators and supervisors.
• Review employee data for accuracy, contract compliance, and timely payroll processing.
• Ensure all temporary staff have valid, fully executed contracts.
• Follow up and resolve any payroll or vendor payment issues.
• Supervise sub‑county finance assistants, providing tools and support needed for effective performance.
• Provide high‑level customer service to staff and external vendors while maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Perform ad‑hoc projects and duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Professional training in accounting/finance (certificate or equivalent).
• Minimum 1 year experience in accounting or administration in a busy environment.
• Ability to work six days a week (Monday‑Saturday).
• Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
• Knowledge of payroll processing and reporting.
• Excellent numeracy, computer literacy and high accuracy.
• Strong organisational skills; ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
• Residency within the relevant county.
