Customs Declarant Clerk – Logistics

About the role

The Declarant Clerk will manage customs documentation and clearance for a logistics client in Kenya. Working on‑site, you will ensure import, export and transit shipments comply with all regulatory requirements while minimizing delays and costs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit import, export and transit declarations through the Kenya Revenue Authority iCMS system.
• Verify commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, air waybills, certificates of origin and other required documents.
• Classify goods using the Harmonized System (HS) codes and calculate applicable duties, VAT and other levies.
• Coordinate clearance activities with KRA, KEBS, KEPHIS, port health, shipping lines, freight forwarders and transporters.
• Monitor cargo movement from arrival to final release and resolve any documentation or inspection issues.
• Maintain accurate customs records for audits and prepare regular reports on customs activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in customs declarations and HS code classification.
• Familiarity with Kenyan customs regulations, EACCMA and related government agencies.
