Data Analysis Assistant (Consultancy)

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is recruiting a consultant for a six-month Data Analysis Assistant position in Nairobi, Kenya. The consultant works in the Knowledge and Innovation Branch, under the direct supervision of the chief of the Data and Statistics Unit, which produces and monitors urban data and statistics for global urban monitoring and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate urban indicators from new surveys
• Compile and validate data from verified secondary sources
• Contribute to background research under the Urban 2030 project
• Coordinate activities of the EGWM and lead the development of key products for the group

Required profile

• High school diploma
• First-level university degree in statistics, population studies, demography, economics, urban planning, urban studies or a closely related field (an asset)
• At least five years of experience as a data analyst
• Fluency in oral and written English; knowledge of another UN language is an advantage

Required skills

• Knowledge of the urban indicators framework and data sourcing from censuses and surveys, city-level platforms and global data platforms
• Experience working with key informants
