Data Science & Software Engineering Consultant (Key Expert 2)

About the role

Sustainet Group Limited is seeking a seasoned data science and software engineering consultant to lead the design, development, and deployment of a data‑wallet solution for agricultural smallholders. The role involves working closely with local partners to build offline‑first applications that respect low‑connectivity constraints and data privacy.

Key responsibilities

• Define technical requirements and data models aligned with value‑chain governance and traceability needs.
• Design system architecture for a data wallet, prototype mobile/web applications, and implement identity, consent, encryption, and key‑management features.
• Develop APIs, interoperability layers, ETL pipelines, and privacy‑preserving analytics.
• Deploy and configure the solution in pilot sites, manage offline sync, and provide technical troubleshooting and security hardening.
• Produce developer documentation, runbooks, and train local IT teams for sustainable handover.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in data engineering or data science for development applications.
• Proven experience building data platforms, working with APIs and interoperability standards.
• Experience in development cooperation projects, especially in Latin America, Africa or Asia.
• Fluency in English (C1 level) and familiarity with agricultural MSME contexts.
