Data Scientist / Biostatistician – Analytics

About the role

The Analytics team at AHADI is seeking a Data Scientist / Biostatistician to develop reproducible analysis pipelines, manage and visualize public‑health data, and mentor junior scientists. The role combines advanced quantitative coding with a proactive problem‑solving attitude to support decision‑making in high disease‑burden settings.

Key responsibilities

• Write and maintain software code for data ingestion, management, visualization, and modeling of health‑related datasets.
• Build robust, reproducible pipelines that automate the analysis workflow.
• Apply appropriate quantitative and statistical methods to address diverse public‑health questions.
• Support multiple AHADI initiatives across the data and analysis pipeline.
• Train and mentor junior staff, guiding best practices for reproducible software development.
• Act as a day‑to‑day role model, allocating roughly half of the time to junior staff development and half to personal analysis work.

Required profile

• Strong quantitative coding background with experience in scientific software development.
• Excellent interpersonal and mentoring skills, able to support junior researchers.
• Flexibility to adapt methodological and communication approaches to varied stakeholder needs.
• Commitment to public‑health analytics and to advancing self‑reliance in African health systems.
