Database Administrator Manager

About the role

The Database Administrator Manager will lead the design, deployment and ongoing management of the bank’s database infrastructure, ensuring security, availability and performance in line with business needs. This senior position reports to IT leadership and works closely with technology service providers and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document operational manuals and procedures.
• Manage day‑to‑day administration of the bank’s database platforms.
• Keep technology platforms current and protect investment in IT.
• Manage relationships with technology service providers to optimise uptime.
• Develop and maintain Business Continuity and Data Security plans.
• Monitor service user complaints and maintain high service standards.
• Lead and motivate staff on projects and incidents.
• Produce MIS reports for IT and bank management.

Required profile

• University degree in a technology‑related field (Upper second class or equivalent).
• Oracle Database Management certification (OCP) and at least 7 years of IT experience, including 4 years in database administration.
• Experience with Sybase, MySQL, MS‑SQL, Azure Cloud, PostgreSQL and high‑availability environments.
• Proficiency in UNIX and Windows environments and familiarity with ITIL or project‑management practices.
• Background in banking operations, storage, backup, data warehousing and ETL concepts.
