Database Administrator Manager

About the role

The Database Administrator Manager will lead the design, deployment and management of the bank’s database, backup and storage architecture, ensuring secure access and high availability to meet business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document operational manuals and procedures.
• Undertake day‑to‑day management of the bank’s database platforms.
• Manage relationships with technology service providers to optimise uptime.
• Develop and maintain Business Continuity and Data Security plans for IT operations.
• Monitor and resolve service user complaints to maintain high service standards.
• Organise, manage and motivate staff and partners on projects and incidents.
• Produce MIS reports for IT and bank management.
• Participate in committees influencing IT policy and strategic direction.

Required profile

• University degree in a technology‑related field (Upper second or equivalent).
• Oracle Database Management certification (OCP) – mandatory.
• Minimum 7 years of IT experience, including at least 4 years in Database Administration.
• 2+ years experience with Sybase, MySQL, MS‑SQL, Azure Cloud, PostgreSQL in high‑availability environments.
• 2+ years experience in UNIX and Windows environments.
• 2+ years experience in banking operations, storage and backup management, data warehousing and ETL concepts.
• Proficiency in project management or ITIL frameworks.
