Departmental Coordinator – IT (ZBTI)

About the role

Zetech University is recruiting a Departmental Coordinator for its Information Technology department (ZBTI). The position is full time, on site in Ruiru, and reports directly to the Dean of the School of ICT, Media and Engineering. The holder mainly serves as a member of the teaching staff, coordinating the engineering programmes of Zetech Business & Technical Institute and Zetech University, including staff management and programme oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee teaching and examination processes, ensuring timely and comprehensive course coverage and evaluation
• Monitor class attendance by staff and students
• Manage examinations and present them at school moderation and School Board meetings
• Work with the People & Culture Department on workload allocation
• Manage student retention, graduation and progression to other programmes
• Take part in departmental research and manage student project attachments and field exposure
• Resolve student and staff concerns promptly
• Manage staff performance, attendance, leave and discipline, and oversee end-to-end academic staff management at the campus
• Oversee programme development and review, approve student admissions and help new students settle in
• Implement policies supporting the department's sustainability

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
• Master's and Bachelor's degrees in IT or related areas from a recognised institution
• At least three years of post-qualification work experience
• Registered or registrable with the relevant professional body where applicable
