Deputy Project Director – DREEM Initiative

About the role

The Deputy Project Director will support the DREEM Project Director in leading Phase II of the DREEM initiative, which aims to empower refugee, displaced and host‑community youth across Africa. This senior position will help shape strategy, oversee implementation and ensure that Refugee‑Led Organizations are effectively integrated into the programme.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project Director in planning, budgeting and monitoring the five‑year Phase II programme.
• Coordinate with Refugee‑Led Organizations to manage the RLO Opportunity Fund and strengthen their technical assistance capacity.
• Oversee the delivery of technical assistance to partners, ensuring alignment with programme goals.
• Facilitate partnerships, stakeholder engagement and knowledge‑sharing across the ecosystem of NGOs, governments and donors.
• Prepare regular progress reports, impact assessments and financial updates for senior management and funders.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Public Policy or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing large‑scale development projects, preferably in Africa.
• Fluency in both English and French.
• Demonstrated experience working with refugee‑led or youth‑focused organisations.
• Strong analytical, reporting and stakeholder‑management abilities.
