Digital Media Translator

About the role

The Digital Media Translator will ensure that UNEP’s French‑language digital presence is accurate, engaging, and timely. Working closely with communications teams, you will translate and publish web and social media content, while supporting executive communication needs for French‑speaking audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Translate and proofread English content (stories, press releases, speeches, publications) for the French‑language UNEP website and ensure timely publication.
• Update and maintain French sections of the website, coordinating reviews and revisions as needed.
• Implement UNEP’s French social‑media strategy, translating copy, videos, and graphics, and managing French‑language channels.
• Engage with French‑speaking audiences, monitor analytics, and adapt content to maximize reach.
• Support the Executive Director with French‑language requests and official travel communications.
• Stay current on digital platforms and translation technologies, and participate in communication division activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, linguistics, translation or a related field.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in translation, social‑media management, or digital communications.
• Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational, planning, and innovative communication skills.
• Excellent written, verbal and visual communication abilities in both English and French.
