Director – Anglophone Africa

About the role

Instiglio is scaling its impact across Africa and launching the Government Empowerment Network. Reporting to the CEO from the Nairobi office, the Director will own growth of impact, portfolio and influence in Anglophone Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute regional impact strategy for Anglophone sub‑region, identifying countries, sectors and partners.
• Lead senior government officials through complex reform processes, diagnosing root causes and aligning incentives.
• Drive partnership development with governments, donors, philanthropies and practitioners, leveraging existing networks.
• Provide strategic, technical and team leadership across projects to ensure quality, innovation and client satisfaction.
• Advance thought leadership and strengthen Instiglio’s positioning in regional and global ecosystems.
• Oversee organisational development, team performance, wellbeing and systems for sustainable growth.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in international development, public policy, public administration or related field.
• At least 12 years of experience in social impact, government advisory, international development, management consulting or development policy.
• Proven experience in government institutional reforms or transformation in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Background in evidence‑based policy design, results‑based financing, theories of change or performance management.
• Track record of sourcing and managing multi‑stakeholder partnerships, including government and donor engagement.
• Extensive experience leading multicultural teams.
