About the role
The Director/Chief Executive Officer leads the Kenya School of Law, providing strategic leadership, managing institutional operations and acting as Secretary to the Board.
Key responsibilities
- Providing strategic leadership in accordance with the statutory mandate of the Kenya School of Law.
- Advising the Board on the School’s strategy to ensure achievement of its mandate.
- Implementing policies, regulations and strategies for the School’s objectives.
- Serving as Secretary to the Board and as the link between Board and Management.
- Overseeing implementation of corporate programmes and ensuring compliance with approved budgets.
- Establishing and implementing internal controls and risk‑management plans.
- Recruiting, retaining qualified staff and fostering an ethical culture.
- Conducting examinations within the School’s mandate and safeguarding assets.
- Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including the Public Finance Management Act.
Required profile
- Minimum fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience, including ten (10) years in senior management.
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Master of Laws (LL.M) or Doctorate (PhD) in Law from a recognized institution.
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practising certificate.
- Post‑graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
- At least two publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
