Electrical Engineer - Power Plant O&M

About the role

Everllence, formerly MAN Energy Solutions, provides propulsion, decarbonization and efficiency solutions for shipping, the energy economy and industry. As Electrical Engineer you will establish and implement electrical maintenance procedures, monitor and evaluate the sustainability and effectiveness of O&M power plant operations, and lead the team of Electrical Technicians. The position is based in Kitengela, Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all electrical maintenance activities and coordinate with the customer or plant manager on maintenance planning and implementation
• Plan and execute planned and unplanned electrical maintenance jobs according to the OEM schedule, including troubleshooting of electrical systems
• Look after operational and non-operational equipment such as switchyard equipment, generators and measuring, protection and control devices
• Arrange routine inspection and troubleshooting of LV, MV and HV systems, switchgears and switchyards
• Review and implement maintenance SOPs, prepare tools and spares, and keep maintenance logbooks
• Maintain plant planning for parts and spares, run training programmes and conduct team performance appraisals
• Arrange modifications and new installations to improve efficiency and reduce breakdowns, attend emergency calls and implement the approved electrical maintenance budget
• Obtain work permits for electrical maintenance and cooperate with other managers on reporting and resource use

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
• 5 years or more of work experience in a technical installation
• Preferred: experience in a power plant with reciprocating heavy-duty engines, in a multinational company, or in the power, cement or shipyard sector
• Strong organizational knowledge and high-level English communication (written and spoken)
• Computer savvy and experience with computerized maintenance management
