Electrician Journeyman (Tier 2)

About the role

The Electrician Journeyman (Tier 2) is responsible for installing, testing and repairing electrical systems, wiring and control apparatus in industrial facilities. The position requires a high‑school diploma or GED, a Journeyman licence and at least four years of related experience. It is an on‑site, full‑time role that must comply with local electrical codes and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test and repair grounding systems in accordance with accepted codes and manufacturer recommendations.
• Plan new or modified installations to minimise material waste and provide future maintenance access.
• Prepare sketches or follow diagrams/blueprints to ensure concealed wiring is installed before walls, ceilings and flooring are completed.
• Measure, cut, bend, thread and assemble electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender.
• Pull wiring through conduit, splice wires, and apply tape or terminal caps per code.
• Connect wiring to lighting fixtures, power equipment, control panels, switches, relays and circuit‑breaker panels.
• Test circuit continuity and component safety using an ohmmeter, battery, buzzer and oscilloscope.
• Observe installed equipment for hazards, make adjustments or repairs as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma / GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum four (4) years of related electrical experience.
• Valid Journeyman licence or certificate.
• Ability to read, write and speak English at an intermediate level.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of an electrician in an industrial environment.

Required skills

• Conduit installation, cutting, bending and threading.
• Wiring splicing and termination using hand tools.
• Electrical testing with ohmmeter, battery, buzzer and oscilloscope.
• Installation of control and distribution apparatus (switches, relays, circuit‑breaker panels).
• Interpretation of electrical blueprints and schematics.
• Knowledge of grounding systems and compliance with electrical codes.
