Engineering Lead — AI, Automation & Full-Stack

About the role

The Engineering Lead – AI, Automation & Full-Stack is a full‑time hybrid position based in Nairobi County, Kenya, with flexibility for remote work. You will lead the design, development and deployment of AI‑driven automation solutions and full‑stack applications that enable clients to accelerate their digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and deployment of AI‑driven automation solutions and full‑stack applications.
• Architect system components, review and contribute code, and guide technical decision‑making.
• Coordinate with product, design and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Oversee end‑to‑end delivery across backend, frontend and integration layers while ensuring security and performance standards.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
• Mentor engineers, establish best practices and lead client workshops.
• Continuously evaluate new tools and frameworks to improve the technology stack.

Required profile

• Strong experience in full‑stack engineering with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) and backend development (Node.js, Python, Java or similar).
• Hands‑on expertise in AI and automation technologies, including machine learning frameworks and workflow automation tools.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and building scalable, secure distributed systems.
• Experience in systems integration, APIs, microservices, data pipelines, SQL/NoSQL databases and business intelligence solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, mentor developers, define technical standards and deliver high‑quality solutions in an agile environment.
• Strong problem‑solving, architectural design and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with cross‑functional teams and clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; consulting or digital transformation experience is a plus.
