Entry Level Laboratory Technologist – Nairobi

About the role

The Public Service Commission is hiring entry‑level Laboratory Technologists for the State Department for Mining in Nairobi. This is a training grade where you will work under the supervision of a senior officer, gaining hands‑on experience in analytical and geological laboratory work. The role supports analytical chemistry, biotechnology and industrial chemistry functions within the mining sector, handling sample processing and data recording. You will be part of a government team delivering laboratory services for mineral analysis and environmental monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Cleaning and sterilising laboratory glassware.
• Documenting and receiving samples for analysis.
• Preparing laboratory reagents.
• Preparing and analysing geological and gemstone samples.
• Disposing of laboratory waste safely.

Required profile

• Diploma in Applied Sciences (Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry), Laboratory Science or Biotechnology from a recognised institution.
• Entry‑level candidate willing to work under guidance of a senior officer.

What we offer

• Basic salary Ksh 32,410 – 42,280 per month.
• House allowance Ksh 3,850 – 6,750 per month.
• Commuter allowance Ksh 4,000 per month.
• 30 working days of annual leave.

• Permanent, pensionable position.
