ERPNext / Frappe Developer
Semasocial · Nairobi
Job description
About the role
This role sits where business processes meet code: you translate a company’s purchase cycles, ledgers, stock movements, payroll runs and customer pipelines into a tailored ERPNext solution. Day‑to‑day you will work inside the Frappe framework, writing server‑side Python and client‑side JavaScript, extending modules and building custom DocTypes, workflows and reports.
Key responsibilities
- Extend and maintain ERPNext modules, creating custom DocTypes, server scripts and client scripts that match departmental workflows.
- Develop full‑stack features using Python (backend), JavaScript (frontend) and HTML/CSS for custom pages, print formats and UI tweaks.
- Automate business processes through custom workflows, scheduled jobs, notification rules and approval steps.
- Build reports, query reports and dashboards that give finance, HR, inventory and sales owners reliable visibility.
- Integrate ERPNext with third‑party platforms via REST APIs, webhooks and Frappe’s integration layer, handling field mapping and data sync.
- Troubleshoot application issues by tracing server logs and database state to fix root causes.
- Support end‑to‑end implementation cycles: configuration, data migration assistance, UAT and production deployment.
- Collaborate with functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Required profile
- Hands‑on experience customizing and building on a live ERPNext/Frappe instance.
- Strong Python skills for backend logic and working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
- Practical experience with MySQL or MariaDB, writing queries and diagnosing data‑level problems.
- Solid understanding of core ERP domains – HR, Accounts, Inventory and CRM – and their transaction flows.
- Experience integrating external systems through REST APIs and handling data mapping.
- Familiarity with the bench command‑line workflow and version control using Git.
- Track record of delivering ERPNext projects in production, typically over two or more years.
- Clear communication and structured problem‑solving when interacting with non‑technical stakeholders.
