Export Logistics Senior Specialist

About the role

The Export Logistics Senior Specialist will lead end‑to‑end export operations for One Acre Fund’s Soko program, ensuring that agricultural inputs leave Kenya’s facilities on schedule, within budget, and fully compliant with international regulations. This role combines planning, coordination, documentation, and stakeholder management to support the organization’s mission of empowering smallholder farmers.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize and oversee the complete export process from order placement to final delivery.
• Coordinate with production, warehousing and procurement teams to guarantee accurate and timely order fulfillment.
• Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers and third‑party logistics providers to schedule shipments and track cargo movement.
• Prepare and review all required export documentation, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin and export licences.
• Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations and internal policies, maintaining accurate records for audit purposes.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients on export logistics inquiries, providing updates and resolving issues promptly.
• Negotiate shipping rates and terms to optimise costs and analyse logistics performance for continuous improvement.
• Support container reconditioning logistics when overseas regulators identify non‑compliance issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing export logistics or international supply‑chain operations.
• Strong understanding of customs procedures, trade agreements and export documentation requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple internal teams and external partners.
• Detail‑oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Preparation of export documentation (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin).
• Knowledge of international trade regulations and customs compliance.
• Experience negotiating freight rates and managing relationships with carriers and freight forwarders.
