Export Sales Manager – FMCG

About the role

The company is looking for an experienced Export Sales Manager to drive growth across African FMCG markets. You will lead market development, manage distributor relationships, and ensure effective route‑to‑market execution in each country.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement structured sales plans to expand across target African countries.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new distributors, creating joint business plans, pricing strategies and annual targets.
• Conduct regular market visits to monitor brand presence, compliance and visibility.
• Manage sell‑in and sell‑out performance, stock levels, order cycles and promotional communication.
• Prepare sales budgets, forecasts, distributor scorecards and market performance reports.
• Track competitor activity, pricing trends and category dynamics.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain and Logistics to ensure localized campaigns, timely shipments and export compliance.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory, import and duty requirements in each market.
• Lead, recruit, train and coach export sales teams and distributor representatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, International Trade or a related field.
• 5–8 years of export sales experience with proven success in African markets.
• Strong understanding of distributor management, route‑to‑market planning and commercial execution.
• Experience in FMCG, preferably food or consumer goods.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship‑building abilities.
