Factory Manager - Paper Hygiene Products

About the role

Penpoint Converters Limited, a Kenyan manufacturer and converter of paper hygiene products, is looking for a hands-on Factory Manager to oversee daily production, staff supervision, inventory control, quality assurance, dispatch coordination and factory reporting. The role suits someone who manages the factory floor directly rather than supervising from an office.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and supervise daily production, ensure machines, operators, raw materials and packaging materials are ready, and track output, downtime, wastage and rejects
• Supervise machine operators, packers, casuals and loaders, enforce discipline, safety and cleanliness, train staff and report staffing gaps
• Monitor raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods and wastage, record stock movements, prevent loss and support stock counts
• Ensure products meet quality standards for size, count, packaging, cleanliness and finishing, and handle rejects and wastage
• Keep machines running safely, coordinate routine maintenance and record downtime and repairs
• Coordinate packing and dispatch, ensure customer orders are prepared on time and maintain order in finished goods storage
• Prepare daily and weekly reports on production, stock, wastage, attendance and machine performance, escalate issues to the directors and recommend improvements

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in production management, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain or a related field
• At least 3-5 years' experience in a factory, manufacturing, packaging, paper, tissue, FMCG or related production environment
• Prior experience supervising factory workers or production teams
• Experience in tissue, paper converting, printing, packaging or hygiene products is an added advantage
• Hands-on, honest, disciplined, cost-conscious and able to work in a start-up factory environment

Required skills

• Production planning, stock control, quality control and machine operation knowledge
• Basic computer skills, including Excel or Google Sheets
• Ability to prepare simple production and stock reports
