Farm Manager – Floriculture Operations

About the role

The Farm Manager will lead day‑to‑day operations of Shabangu Flowers’ floriculture farm, ensuring high‑quality flower production for export markets. This full‑time, on‑site position in Ruiru requires coordination of greenhouse and open‑field activities, irrigation scheduling, and strict adherence to sustainability and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, plant, cultivate, harvest and handle post‑harvest processes for roses, chrysanthemums and other cut flowers.
• Manage greenhouse and open‑field production, including irrigation schedules and water use efficiency.
• Supervise farm staff, organise work plans, monitor performance and ensure safe working conditions.
• Control inputs and resources, maintain equipment, and implement integrated pest and disease management.
• Optimize yields and production costs while meeting export quality requirements.
• Collaborate with senior management and quality teams to align farm activities with customer expectations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in farm management, preferably in floriculture or horticulture.
• Hands‑on expertise with irrigation systems and water management.
• Knowledge of greenhouse production, integrated pest management and sustainable farming practices.
• Ability to lead, train and manage labour while maintaining health and safety standards.
• Strong organisational, problem‑solving and record‑keeping abilities.
• Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness or a related field is preferred.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Ruiru and adapt to seasonal workloads.
