Farm Supervisor (Mixed Farming Operations)

About the role

A newly established small high-end resort in Timau, Meru, is hiring a qualified and experienced farm operations manager (Farm Supervisor) through Corporate Staffing Services. The role covers mixed farming operations including livestock and crops, and oversees production, budgeting and marketing. It is a full-time, on-site management position in Timau, Meru, with a salary of KES 40-50k.

Key responsibilities

• Manage livestock (dairy cows, sheep, goats) and crops (vegetables, fruits) and implement strategies for maximum yield
• Organize farm administration, manage farm staff and look for markets for the products
• Plan finances and production to keep the farm on budget, and buy supplies such as fertilizer and seeds
• Maintain and monitor the quality of yield, and monitor animal health and welfare, including liaising with government vets
• Apply health and safety standards across the farm and handle the marketing and sale of products such as fruits, vegetables, meat, chicken parts and eggs
• Inspect crops and livestock, test soil and water, and ensure seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other supplies are regularly restocked
• Perform artificial insemination, fodder production and preservation

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Science, Animal Science or a related field
• 2-3 years of work experience; extensive experience managing a farm and experience in mixed farming are advantages
• Passion for agriculture and looking after dairy animals
• Self-motivated, with excellent budgeting skills and willingness to work overtime as required
