Field Service Engineer

About the role

Siemens is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join its Electrification Automation business in Ohio. In this hands‑on position you will travel across the United States to commission, test, and troubleshoot low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution and protection systems for industrial customers.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test, commission, and start up low‑ and medium‑voltage equipment (≈480 V–38 kV), including switchgear and breakers.
• Perform hands‑on commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protection and control relays such as SEL, GE Multilin, and Siemens SIPROTEC.
• Use industry‑standard test equipment and software (Omicron, Doble, relay configuration tools) to validate system performance.
• Support greenfield and brownfield projects through commissioning, maintenance, emergency response, and corrective troubleshooting.
• Analyze test results, assess equipment condition, and produce clear field reports.
• Provide technical support, training, and consulting to customers, partners, and internal teams.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum 4 years of field‑based experience with electrical power distribution systems.
• Experience with protection and control relays and associated configuration software.
• Proficiency using relay testing equipment such as Omicron or Doble test sets.
• Ability to interpret test data, assess equipment condition, and document findings.
