Field Service Engineer – Northern Virginia

About the role

Siemens is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customers across Northern Virginia. In this hands‑on, field‑based position you will commission, test, and troubleshoot power distribution and protection systems in a variety of industrial environments.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test, commission, and start up low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution equipment (approximately 480 V–38 kV), including switchgear and breakers.
• Perform hands‑on commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protection and control relays (e.g., SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens SIPROTEC).
• Use industry‑standard test equipment and software such as Omicron and Doble test sets, and relay configuration and protection software.
• Support greenfield and brownfield projects through commissioning, maintenance, emergency response, and corrective troubleshooting.
• Analyze test results, assess equipment condition, and document findings in clear field reports.
• Work directly with customers, partners, and internal teams to provide technical support, training, and consulting.
• Travel extensively to job sites across the United States to meet project demands.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED.
• 4+ years of experience in field‑based commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical power distribution systems.
• Experience with protection and control relays (SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens SIPROTEC) and associated configuration software.
• Proficiency with relay testing equipment such as Omicron and/or Doble test sets.
• Knowledge of low‑ and medium‑voltage switchgear and breakers.
• Ability to travel extensively and work independently on site.
