Finance Assistance (Intern)

About the role

Trócaire is seeking a Finance Assistance intern to support its finance and administration team in Nairobi. The role involves handling financial documents, processing payments, and assisting with audit preparation for the Somalia programme.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that payment requests follow the Finance and Budgeting Policy and prepare supporting documentation.
• Prepare and upload monthly batch files for taxi and flight expenses into the Agresso system.
• Stamp digital payment documents as “paid” and maintain organized digital folders for invoices, receipts, bank statements and contracts.
• Assist the Head of Finance with weekly bank statement reviews and monthly statutory returns filing.
• Support the Programme Support Officers in cleaning and merging finance documents and ensuring timely retrieval for reporting and audits.

Required profile

• Degree or higher diploma in finance, accounting or a related field, or CPA Section II qualification.
• Strong computer literacy, especially with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and a commitment to Trócaire’s mission and values.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience using the Agresso financial management system.
• Familiarity with Salesforce for audit reporting.
