Finance Assistant Intern

About the role

The Finance Assistant Intern will join Cytonn Asset Managers in Nairobi for a three‑month, performance‑based training program. The role offers hands‑on exposure to accounting, financial operations and office administration within a fast‑paced investment firm. Interns receive mentorship from senior finance professionals and may be considered for a full‑time position after the program.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing payments by verifying invoices and supporting documentation.
• Maintain organized and accurate digital and physical financial records.
• Support daily, weekly and monthly treasury activities and track basic financial movements.
• Monitor billing, follow up with teams for timely collections, and assist with cash tracking and basic reconciliations.
• Help maintain up‑to‑date records of financial transactions in accounting systems.
• Assist in ensuring proper documentation and filing of statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, VAT, etc.).
• Support preparation of monthly financial reports and summaries.
• Assist in organizing documents required for audits and provide basic financial support to the business development team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Progress in professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with accounting systems is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, good organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills.
