Finance Coordinator – Nairobi

About the role

Legal Action Worldwide is seeking a Finance Coordinator to support its Nairobi office, which manages programmes across Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan. The role works closely with Programme Managers in Africa and the Finance Manager in Geneva to ensure effective financial operations and capacity building for local partners.

Key responsibilities

• Process all transactions in the organisation’s financial accounting software and prepare banking payments for approval.
• Produce master budgets, monthly financial reports, cash calls, quarterly forecasts and ensure timely bank and petty‑cash reconciliations.
• Allocate administrative costs to grants, collate and process grant‑related invoices, and lead local grant audits.
• Support the Geneva finance team with inter‑company reconciliations, statutory audit preparation and payroll review.
• Prepare and submit funding requests, financial reports for donors and assist partners with budgeting, financial reporting and training.

Required profile

• Legal right to work in Kenya.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related field.
• CPA‑K qualification or equivalent (ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
• Minimum five years of finance coordination experience in an INGO.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory requirements (PAYE, VAT, NSSF, etc.).

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Navision or similar enterprise accounting software.

What we offer

• Salary range KES 3,660,000 – KES 3,780,000 per year (based on experience) plus benefits.
• Full‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term contract with possible extension.
