Finance Director

About the role

InSupply Health, an affiliate of JSI Research & Training Institute, is an independent supply chain advisory firm based in East Africa. It is seeking an experienced Finance Director to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the finance and operations function. The role advises the CEO and senior leadership on financial strategy and growth, and leads the finance and operations function across a complex, multi-country environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee financial strategies, advise the CEO and senior leadership, and assess the financial viability of new opportunities
• Oversee financial performance, cash flow, forecasting and risk; lead budgeting, revenue forecasting and cost management
• Strengthen internal controls, financial governance and risk management, and ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and donor requirements
• Oversee internal, external and donor audits and follow up on audit findings
• Provide strategic oversight of grant and donor financial management and donor compliance
• Lead continuous improvement of financial policies, systems and processes, and promote effective use of ERP systems
• Lead, develop and motivate a high-performing finance and operations team

Required profile

• Master's and Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field
• Qualified accountant with active membership of a recognised professional body such as ICPAK, ACCA or equivalent
• At least 12 years of post-qualification experience, including at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role in an international development, consulting, non-profit or social-impact organisation
• Experience leading finance teams in complex, multi-country environments, preferably in East Africa
• Experience managing multi-donor grants, budgets over USD 10 million, and audits

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of financial governance, accounting, taxation and compliance
• ERP and financial management systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics, with advanced Excel
• Financial analysis, risk management and internal controls
