Finance Manager

About the role

Novotel is hiring a Finance Manager in Westlands, Nairobi. The role oversees the daily operations of the Finance Department, manages month-end and year-end closing, supervises accounts payable and receivable, prepares statutory reports and leads the finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily finance operations, manage month-end and year-end closing, and prepare statutory financial statements, management accounts and profit and loss reports
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and internal controls, and coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities
• Supervise accounts payable and receivable, monitor overdue accounts and verify cash and payment transactions
• Prepare annual budgets and forecasts, monitor expenses against budgets and support cost-control initiatives
• Analyze revenue reconciliation and identify opportunities for financial improvement
• Lead, coach and develop the finance team, providing training and mentorship
• Maintain internal controls, assist with audits, keep financial records and coordinate with People & Culture on payroll accuracy
• Monitor inventory reports, support stock-taking and investigate significant variances

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance or a related field
• Professional accounting certification (CPA or equivalent)
• Significant accounting and finance experience in the hospitality industry, including a senior finance or team leadership position
• Experience with statutory reporting, month-end and year-end closing, and working with auditors, tax authorities and regulators
• Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams, and experience in budget management, cost control and financial forecasting

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling
• Hands-on experience with accounting systems and financial software
• Knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations (VAT and withholding tax), internal controls and segregation of duties
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills
