Accounts Assistant – Luxury Safari Lodge

About the role

A detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Assistant is sought to join the finance team at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club, a luxury property in Maasai Mara, Kenya. The role reports to the Unit Accountant and ensures the accuracy and integrity of credit card transactions, supports cost control, maintains inventory records and keeps financial records in line with Accor hospitality standards. The position is permanent and full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Credit card reconciliation: reconcile daily transactions from the Property Management System (PMS) with payment gateway and bank statements, monitor receivables and follow up on unreconciled items.
• Cost control and inventory: monitor departmental expenses against budgets and run periodic stock counts for food, beverages, housekeeping supplies and operational inventories.
• General accounting: assist with month-end and year-end closing, maintain accurate accounting records and supporting audit documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or luxury hotels.
• CPA Part II/III, ACCA or an equivalent qualification is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of hotel cost control procedures and ability to work independently in a lodge environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS).
• Financial accounting software.
• Microsoft Excel.
