Finance Officer

About the role

The Finance Officer will support the Finance & Operations portfolio of Urgent Action Fund‑Africa, a pan‑African feminist fund. Working under the Finance & Operations Manager, you will ensure efficient financial administration, accurate record‑keeping and compliance with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process payments, verify supporting documents, and manage cheque delivery and receipt filing.
• Maintain cashbooks, perform monthly cash and bank reconciliations, and reconcile staff advances.
• Collaborate with HR to reconcile staff benefits, payroll, and ensure timely payroll payments.
• File monthly statutory returns and liaise with relevant government bodies.
• Determine cash requirements, manage petty‑cash replenishment with full documentation.
• Record all transactions in QuickBooks, prepare monthly accounts and update the fixed‑assets register, including depreciation calculations.
• Assist the Finance & Operations Manager in budgeting, financial reporting for donor proposals and presentations.
• Update budget trackers, report variances, and provide periodic internal and external financial reports.
• Support procurement processes, ensuring adherence to procurement policies and donor requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in financial administration within a non‑profit or donor‑funded environment.
• Familiarity with statutory compliance and monthly reporting obligations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with HR and operations teams.
