Financial Controller – Luxury Hotel/Resort (Kenya)

About the role

The Financial Controller will join the executive team of a luxury hotel/resort in Kenya, reporting to the General Manager and working closely with Group Finance. This senior position provides financial leadership, ensures compliance, and supports strategic decisions in a remote, high‑end hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance department and oversee all accounting functions.
• Manage P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, internal policies and audit requirements.
• Oversee tax, statutory reporting and coordination with external auditors.
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision‑making by senior management.
• Implement and maintain robust financial controls and multi‑currency accounting processes.
• Identify cost‑optimization opportunities and drive profitability improvements.
• Mentor, develop and manage finance staff.

Required profile

• 5–7 years experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader in hospitality.
• International work experience, preferably in East Africa or other remote/developing markets.
• Experience with luxury resorts, safari lodges or island properties.
• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CPA).
• Strategic partner to senior management with strong leadership abilities.
