Finance Officer (Volunteer)

About the role

The Finance Officer is a volunteer, on‑site position based in Moyale, supporting the organization’s financial planning and management. The role involves preparing and reviewing financial records, assisting with budget development, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring accurate reporting for projects and donors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and maintain financial records and statements.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets.
• Monitor expenditures, reconcile accounts and identify variances.
• Support the preparation of financial reports for internal use and donors.
• Collaborate with program and administrative staff to ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.

Required profile

• Strong finance knowledge with experience in financial reporting.
• Ability to prepare and review financial statements for regular accounting and project reporting.
• Solid analytical skills to interpret data, monitor budgets and identify risks.
• Clear communication skills for collaboration with staff and partners.
• Relevant experience in non‑profit or community‑based organisations, preferably in rural or pastoralist settings.
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field is preferred.
• High integrity, attention to detail and commitment to transparency and accountability.
