Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller acts as the strategic financial leader for the Nairobi property, driving financial planning, analysis and control to support Marriott’s brand objectives. This role partners with the General Manager and executive team to deliver accurate reporting, optimise profitability and safeguard assets.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse financial data, market trends and sales performance to develop annual budgets, forecasts and profit‑improvement initiatives.
• Lead the accounting team, ensuring strong internal controls, accurate P&L reporting and compliance with audit requirements.
• Prepare and present financial results, variance analyses and strategic recommendations to owners, corporate leadership and the executive committee.
• Monitor tax obligations, ensure timely collection/ accrual and oversee internal, external and regulatory audit processes.
• Support property strategy by providing timely financial insights, managing risks and influencing business decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar financial controller role, preferably within a luxury hotel environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead accounting teams, drive budgeting processes and deliver accurate financial reporting.
