Financial Controller (M/F)

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Financial Controller in Nairobi on a fixed-term contract. The role covers accounting, budgeting, trade finance oversight, internal control and leading a small financial team.

Key responsibilities

• Accounting and financial reporting: manage receivables and payables, revenue recognition and cost accounting, and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts.
• Budgeting and forecasting: coordinate and prepare budgets and forecasts, report variances and analyse them to support decisions.
• Trade finance oversight: monitor and reconcile trade transactions, letters of credit guarantees and FX exposures, ensuring risk management and compliance with international banking regulations.
• Internal control and compliance: develop, implement and monitor financial controls to mitigate risk and optimise revenue.
• Cash flow and treasury: manage equity requirements, optimise cash flow and oversee treasury activities related to trade financing.
• Financial analysis and strategy: provide variance and profitability analysis and support trade deal evaluations through financial modelling.
• Leadership: manage, mentor and develop a financial team as the activity scales up.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• CPAK certification.
• Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in senior finance or accounting roles, preferably in banking, trade finance or corporate finance.
• Strong knowledge of trade finance instruments, corporate accounting and tax regulations.

• Proficiency in accounting and financial software.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Analytical, strategic planning, leadership and communication skills.
