Fleet Manager – School Transport

About the role

The Fleet Manager will oversee the daily operations of the school transport fleet, ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, and efficiently utilized. This role combines strategic planning with hands‑on supervision of drivers and maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to maximise vehicle availability.
• Monitor fuel consumption, utilisation, and maintenance costs, driving efficiency improvements.
• Supervise drivers and bus assistants, enforcing safety standards and company policies.
• Ensure all vehicles hold valid insurance, inspection certificates, licences and statutory documentation.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and breakdowns, applying corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate fleet records on servicing, repairs, mileage and compliance.
• Coordinate vehicle inspections and promptly address defects.
• Monitor GPS tracking and driver performance to promote safe operations.
• Prepare weekly and monthly operational and performance reports.
• Collaborate with management to optimise fleet utilisation and support business growth.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Transport Management, Logistics, Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing a commercial fleet, preferably in school or passenger transport.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, fleet management systems and transport regulations.
• Proven experience supervising drivers and leading operational teams.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Valid driving licence (Class B or higher) is an advantage.
