Fleet Planner – Nairobi

About the role

Develop daily, weekly and monthly fleet schedules, assign vehicles and drivers to routes, monitor fleet utilisation, coordinate dispatch and delivery plans, track vehicle performance, maintain trip records, support contingency planning and prepare fleet performance reports.

Key responsibilities

• Create and implement fleet schedules aligned with operational demand.
• Assign vehicles and drivers while ensuring compliance with driver hours, rest regulations and customer service standards.
• Monitor fleet utilisation to maximise productivity and minimise downtime.
• Coordinate with operations teams to align dispatch and delivery plans.
• Use fleet management systems to track vehicle availability, location and performance.
• Monitor fuel usage, trip efficiency and route optimisation to control costs.
• Maintain accurate records of planned versus actual trips and investigate variances.
• Support contingency planning for breakdowns, delays or emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations, permits and internal policies.
• Generate planning and performance reports for management review.

Required profile

• Diploma in Transport and Logistics, Clearing and Forwarding or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a transport & logistics company or clearing & forwarding.
• Experience in port operations.
• Experience using fleet management systems.
