Forward Deployed Engineer – Workflow Software for College Admissions

About the role

Crimson Education is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to build and deliver workflow software that streamlines the college admissions process. The role sits at the intersection of software engineering, product thinking, and direct customer engagement, helping students, families, counselors, and admissions consultants manage key application workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software systems supporting school research, application planning, Common App management, essay review, and document tracking.
• Work directly with customers and internal service teams to uncover pain points, operational processes, and business needs.
• Translate user requirements into product features, workflow improvements, internal tools, and scalable technical solutions.
• Rapidly prototype, validate, and iterate on product ideas based on real user feedback.
• Collaborate with product, design, operations, and customer‑facing teams to define priorities and deliver high‑impact solutions.
• Own projects end‑to‑end, from discovery and technical design through implementation, deployment, and post‑launch iteration.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive workflows and improve efficiency.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving mindset with the ability to translate ambiguous workflow challenges into technical solutions.
• Experience working closely with customers or end‑users to gather requirements and validate product ideas.
• Ability to collaborate across product, design, operations, and engineering teams.
• Self‑starter who can own projects from concept to delivery and iterate based on feedback.
