Freelance Onsite IT Support – Site Survey Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a freelance IT professional to conduct comprehensive onsite surveys of client locations. The engineer will assess existing IT infrastructure, document findings, and provide recommendations to support upcoming installations, upgrades, or maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the onsite customer contact and review survey requirements.
• Perform a physical inspection of the installation site, including network cabinets, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, servers, and storage.
• Verify power outlets, UPS units, network connectivity, patch panels, Internet/WAN links, and grounding.
• Measure cable routes, estimate lengths, and record rack space and equipment mounting needs.
• Capture photographs of equipment racks, network devices, cable pathways, and power distribution.
• Identify environmental conditions, accessibility, security restrictions, and health‑safety considerations.
• Discuss findings with the customer, document risks, constraints, and prerequisites, and submit a detailed site survey report with recommendations.

Required profile

• Proven experience conducting onsite IT infrastructure surveys.
• Ability to work independently on client sites and communicate findings clearly.
• Attention to detail for accurate documentation and risk identification.
