About the role
The Gender Equality Consultant will support the Accelerating Sanitation and Water for All (ASWA) Programme by providing technical, facilitation and knowledge‑management assistance. The role focuses on integrating gender‑intentional approaches into UNICEF WASH programmes across eight countries and strengthening evidence‑based advocacy.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate the integration of gender‑responsive strategies into WASH interventions and country programmes.
- Consolidate, disseminate and advocate evidence on gender‑equitable WASH generated through ASWA implementation.
- Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to UNICEF staff and partners on gender‑intentional WASH planning.
- Support the development of gender‑focused monitoring tools, indicators and reporting mechanisms.
- Collaborate with governments, NGOs and other stakeholders to promote gender‑sensitive policies in the WASH sector.
Required profile
- Relevant academic background in gender studies, public health, WASH, or related fields.
- Experience working on gender‑focused programmes within the WASH sector, preferably in low‑resource settings.
- Demonstrated ability to work remotely with international teams and manage multi‑country projects.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with experience in knowledge management and advocacy.
