General Cashier

About the role

The General Cashier is responsible for managing the hotel’s daily cash handling and disbursement operations. This includes accurate collection, verification, reconciliation, banking, and safekeeping of cash, cheques, credit‑card vouchers and other monetary instruments. The role supports financial controls and provides cash support to Front Office and Food & Beverage teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own the daily cash control process, ensuring all cash, cheques, credit‑card vouchers and remittances are accurately collected, verified, reconciled and securely accounted for.
• Prepare and coordinate daily bank deposits and manage petty cash, staff disbursements and advances.
• Maintain accurate daily cash records and reports for review by the Income Auditor and Finance Manager.
• Support Front Office and Food & Beverage operations by providing adequate change, especially during peak periods.
• Participate in surprise cash counts, investigations and internal control activities.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• CPA qualification (at least Part I) or equivalent is an advantage.
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in cash‑handling or accounting, preferably in a hotel environment.
• Previous experience as a General Cashier, Cashier, Accounts Clerk or Income Auditor.
• High level of accuracy, integrity and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
