General Manager, Procurement

About the role

The General Manager, Procurement will lead the bank’s purchasing function, developing cost‑effective strategies and ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy. This senior position reports to senior management and oversees a team of procurement professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement sound, cost‑effective procurement strategies for goods and services used by the bank.
• Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and coordinate internal engagements to match user needs with quality standards.
• Align procurement plans with the bank’s overall strategy and manage service level agreements with user departments.
• Conduct KYC reviews, risk management procedures, and periodic performance evaluations of material suppliers.
• Collaborate with the Legal department to review supplier contracts and ensure favourable terms.
• Provide leadership to the procurement team and perform secretariat functions for the Procurement Committee.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management or a related business degree, plus a diploma in the same field.
• Membership of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (mandatory).
• At least 5 years of progressive procurement experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.

Required skills

• Knowledge of basic contract law and procurement best practices.
• In‑depth understanding of the bank’s products and services.
